In my write up of How to Win Friends & Influence People I mentioned how the style was kind of written in the form of the crazy uncle you get stuck sitting next to at Thanksgiving who tells one story after another and you have trouble following the common thread through all of them. Despite my best effort to give it the benefit of the doubt, I don’t understand why it’s a classic that has influenced so many people. It’s the perfect mashup of low quality writing, rambling nonsensicalness, and new age flabbiness. This book is a quintessential example of why.

I mentioned in my introduction to this series that I’m not a huge fan of the whole self-help/business-mindset genre. I feel like you can’t listen to a business or investing podcast without someone mentioning it as being a book that hugely influenced them and their thinking.
